Random Thought Of The Day #410

Day 410

So Pittsburgh decided to change the rules on free parking in the city. Of maybe just SOME parts of the city. I'm not entirely clear on that...

But anyway, they've changed it from "free after 6" to "free after 10" but didn't bother to change the damn signs that SAY "8 am to 6 pm" over to "8 am to 10 pm" and yet are still ticketing for it.

Damn. I guess the city is broke as fuck. Change rules, don't change signs or tell anyone exactly which areas are affected and then start enforcing it is a great way to write tickets (which will pay the city about 20-40X what the hourly rate on a meter costs. Actually more, cause the meter money goes mostly to the Port Authority with a % then sent to the city and the ticket money goes directly to the city) and make fucking bank.

This is why I hate politics and politicians. It's also why the city of Pittsbugh wonders why nobody goes downtown anymore. And why nobody shops there or starts businesses there and for going on 3 decades, the "Fifth/Forbes corridor" has been nothing but boarded up storefronts and wig shops.

Hey assholes, maybe it's because NOBODY WANTS TO PAY CRAZY FUCKING PARKING RATES!

Douchebags.

FYI, for the munch-goer's that read this... apparently the meters in the South Side ARE affected by this. So you'll be fucked by having to run out every 2 hours and throw another $2 in the meter. Cause the parking RATE'S also doubled from $0.50 to $1/hr. And they're no longer free after 6. So going to the munch just cost you an extra $2-4 if you drive. I'm not sure if Lawrenceville is also covered by this though...

Thank your wonderful fucking city for that bullshit. Congratulations, assholes... you just killed the last of the businesses in downtown, the use of that outdoor rink during the winter at PPG Place. at least some of the business in the South Side, North Shore and Oakland and probably a chunk of other businesses that people come down to in the evenings.

But hey, they didn't take free parking on the weekends away... yet.

There, I learned you something today... maybe
