Random Thought Of The Day #513

Day 513

I got a fun e-mail this morning. A "Copyright Violation Claim" from my ISP. That's fucking special. And oddly enough, nobody was even home at the time they claim it happened.

Thankfully, it's only a "warning" and the copyright holder hasn't requested personal information thru a supeona at this point. Hopefully, it just blows over.

And in the meantime, I changed my wireless password in case someone decided that my house would be a good place to download an episode of a mediocre tv show.

But this does once again prove something I've talked about a couple times recently. Seriously... everyone... stop fucking bootlegging movies & watch your ass. If you're going to do it, use a proxy or TOR or something. Annonymize yourself in any way possible. Or just spend the $1.50 on iTunes for an episode of a tv show if you only missed one. Or wait until the fucking season hits dvd, borrow it from the library or get it from redbox or netflix & rip that shit if you REALLY need to watch it on your laptop instead of the tv.

It's strange how easily they are tracking IP addresses at this point.

Hell, it's amazing how easily they're tracking us everywhere at this point.

The supreme court is hearing a case pretty soon about warrantless gps tracking. And it seems like it's happening more and more every day. To just everyday citizens.

I've never been a fan of the Post-9/11 patriot act crap. I can understand the need for some things but a lot of the tracking is getting grossly abused. A lot of the whole "war on terror" thing has been used for going after people for everything from movie piracy to pot smoking. But I still want my fucking groping & some "enhanced screening" at the airport if I'm gonna be stuck in a 2 hour long line.

But it does, again... prove the same "slippery slope" that others love to discredit in discussion claiming "that'll never happen" only for it to happen & then disregard the "slippery slope" argument the next time someone uses it again. The slippery slope ALWAYS happens. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow... but eventually. Because, like with any great authority granted to any single or group of people... eventually someone will be the "bad apple" that spoils the bunch & starts it going down that slippery slope.

So keep questioning authority. Keep seeking more freedom where you can. USE the slippery slope argument when it applies. Because someone WILL think of a way to corrupt power. And it's always the people that truly seek power that will do it.

And no, the solution to abuse of authority is not giving another authority the oversight to watch THAT authority. It's to strip that authority from anyone of power. Because you can't solve a corruption problem that stems from having too much authority by creating an even greater level authority to oversee the first authority. It's a vicious cycle that can only be fixed by stripping authority & making government smaller.

And there's my political rant for the next... hopefully a long time.

Now I'm thinking about pancakes. And what Deadpool I'm going to give you today. So here's some Deadpool & pancakes at the same time. The best of both worlds.

Random Thought Of The Day #512

Day 512

A list of random thoughts today:

1. I wonder if I could build a particle accelerator in my basement? Do you think that violates zoning laws? Maybe I should also build a small nuclear reactor down there too. You know, to power it. Otherwise, my electric bill might go thru the fucking roof.

2. I haven't seen strippers in a while. I should probably put that on my list of things to do.

3. Oh look, the government said "we have no evidence of alien life and have never encountered information or beings of alien origins.". They said that shit to Mulder too, and he and that kinda cute redheaded chick that always wore shoulder-pads proved them wrong. I mean, look at this guy...

wait... I should probably find a picture of some dude that looks like an alien before I type that up, right? Well... then ... just image a really funny looking guy. Probably with a huge freaking bald spot & some liver spots on his head. Gigantic ears. Like... bigger than the President. That's pretty fucking big.

Wait... that's 2 Presidents in a row with ungodly big ears. Maybe it's not actually about who is the taller one anymore. They used to say that the taller guy always won. Maybe it's now the guy with the biggest ears. Disney totally got to us all with fucking Dumbo.

4. An asteroid is going to come really fucking close to Earth tomorrow... so for all you global warming idiots out there... don't worry... when it comes back around 2028 and actually hits us next time, your electric car won't have mattered worth a fuck. And since I'll be like... 48 when that happens... I'll probably already be half way to my deathbed with some new form of cancer, some wildly viral form of dimentia & liver failure. So I won't give a fuck.

5. Will someone find a way to lobotomize George Lucas so he quits fucking with Star Wars? Every other year, it's another special edition box set super double trilogy blu ray re-synched with digital enhanced alien fucking or something like that. Unless it includes removing Jar Jar Binks and all of those weird floppy green alien frog people (and no, Frenchy... I wasn't talking about you this time, dirty horse-eater.), can you fucking cut it out? Nobody else fucks around with 35 year old movies to change 17 seconds, add in 3 lines and toss in a minute and a half of b-roll that nobody even notices half the time. Go make something new. Or just try to perfect the Scrooge McDuck money bin dive.

How the fuck did he do that? You'd think that he'd just smash face first into that thing like everyone else. And he was old... he's not that fit. Diving into anything would probably just make him break his hip or something.

Wait... whose kids were the colored-shirted duck children that got pawned off on ol' Scrooge? Was that Disney universe or Warner Brothers? They weren't Daffy's kids, right? Whose were they? I don't remember.

And how did he keep the location of the Money Bin a secret? It's a 40-story tall building in the fucking woods, on top of a hill, with a gigantic "$" sign in solid gold on the top of it. Nobody's gonna miss that shit, man. I'm pretty sure I could see it from my house, and you're all the way in a fictional universe populated by anthropomorphic ducks & chipmunks.

Now I want to go watch some old-school Duck Tales.

It was Duck Tales, right?

I just got the greatest idea... Deadpool guest-starring on an episode of Duck Tales. Deadpool & Darkwing Duck saving the world!

Random Thought Of The Day #511

Day 511

I'd like to congratulate Doc on winning the Ms Pittsburgh Leather Fetish 2012 title. It was a good & close competition. She will do a wonderful job of representing the title for Pittsburgh. And thank you too, to DoNotGoGently for providing an amazing opponent in the title race.

This brings up something that I think is good for the community.

Granted, I stopped caring about the whole "community" concept a while ago. Inclusiveness, welcoming atmosphere, sex-positive whatever, bridge building... whatever... I couldn't give a fuck. Maybe that's why I don't involve myself in the whole community structure anymore.

But I know that's the goals of the community at present. It's also kind of necessary if there's any hope of putting together some kind of public play space anytime soon. The whole "rely on one part of the whole pansexual community to sustain anything" model doesn't work. We've got a boatload of failures in keeping something afloat to prove that one.

And I think having someone that's a mainstay in the bdsm community is a good way to help bridge some of the gaps between a number of the small, segmented communities in this city. There's not a lot of crossover as-is between the Leather and the bdsm communities as is. And while the Fetish 101 parties are also somewhat of a bridge-buidling thing, it's not really enough. There's a lot of differences between these 2 segments of the community. And I think either of the 2 female contestants would have been good choices to help show some of the similarities that the 2 segments also have. So either way, it was a win.

And in closing... I'd like to be the first person to refer to Doc as Ms Fancy Pants for her title. Because... well... why not?

I should totally run next year on the "I don't care about bridging any gaps or doing anything to improve anything anywhere for any reason" platform. While flipping off the audience & the judges the whole time, wearing my customary button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up over black t-shirt with jeans & the only leather being my belt, boots & wallet. For every part of the competition. I'll just change the color of my over-shirt.  See, I'm Leather. I totally got this.

Oh wait... it's not like an election? Well, then that's no fun.

Now, back to my apathy & willful-ignorance fueled ignorant rants about ridiculous bullshit that nobody else but me cares about. And Deadpool. Because that was wayyyyyyy too much of me appearing to care about "community building" and other such bullshit.

Random Thought Of The Day #510

Day 510

I know this is like the 37th time this week I've talked about comic books, but the whole business has been on my mind a LOT in the past few months.

Between the upcoming Superhero party, my own itch to finally finish & publish one of my own creations & news articles, plus my love of pretty much every superhero movie made (except the 2 Joel Schumacher Batman movies... fuck those things), even the cheesy ones, comics have  been in my head.

I grew up on them. But oddly enough, it actually took a hospital stay to get me to read them. I just didn't "get" it until then, I guess. I made mention of this a little while back but when I was a kid, I broke my head. Spent like 3 weeks in the hospital & in my boredom, my mom picked me up some comics from the gift shop. That was the end.

I pretty much read comics regularly for the next 18 or so years. I think I was 10 when that happened, and until about 2008, I read them regularly. I'd take a year or so off here and there, but inevitably come back to them because it was cool. In that super geeky way. It was fun. It was creative. It was... just awesome.

But then I stopped a few years back. The prices were getting out of hand, my money was being redirected towards more and more kink-related things & living expenses and I just kinda... stopped. I just couldn't justify dropping nearly $100 month on them anymore. Cause there was always something ELSE I wanted to start reading too.

But I digress.

Marvel has finally decided to go day-to-date with their digital publications of new comics. Meaning that you can buy a comic in physical format in the stores or you can download it digitally the same day. DC did this recently, but fuck DC. (I'm still pissed off about them integrating the Wildstorm Universe into their primary DCU. And for censoring the shit out of The Authority. And for cancelling Wildcats Version 3.0. And for not even publishing the last issue of StormWatch: Team Achilles. And pretty much half of everything else they've done in the past decade since Warren Ellis stopped writing for them.)

But I still can't get entirely on-board with digital comics. I don't know why.

I guess it's one of those things with physically holding something in my hands and flipping pages. I think that's why I can't really bring myself to get into e-books either.

Maybe it's also because I can't flip thru a new book on the shelf & check it out, maybe read an issue or 2 at the store before deciding if I want to add it to my reading list. I can't count the number of new books that I'd pick up from just reading an issue in the store & saying "yeah, this looks fun" and then add it for a few months on a "trial basis" before deciding if I wanted to keep reading it.

Maybe it's because I can't go thru the same "ritual" (of sorts) when I get that new stack of comics or box of comics from the mail-order place. I'd get the box monthly. Then I'd rip it open & start unpacking things. Then, I'd organize the stack into my reading order with some books that were ALWAYS on top (mostly the primary X-books or Wildstorm stuff). And then, near the end of the month, as I was getting close to the bottom of the stack, I'd figure out which books I wasn't really as into as I had been and start debating dropping them. And then... finally, right before the new box would get here for the following month, I'd re-organize them alphabetically and begin the process of adding all these new books into the long boxes.

Maybe that's why... because I can't throw digital comics into a long box and watch the number of boxes grow anymore. I can't go back thru them every few years and pull out a box or so worth (when I'd have added 4 or 5 in that time frame) and decide it was time to see what I could get for them on Craigslist or ebay or something.

And this is odd... Reading is the one form of entertainment where I need to have the physical object in my hand. To see how far I've gotten thru it or how much I've accumulated. Every other form of entertainment? Video games, movies, tv shows, music... whatever... (ok, maybe not strippers... they're forms of entertainment, right?) every other form of media, I do everything I can to eliminate the physical removable media. I rip movies into m4v files to throw into my iTunes folder on the media center. I rip music into mp3 & put them there as well. Same with TV shows. I download the games I can to my xbox whenever I can instead of having the disc.

Maybe it's because they're just a piece of plastic with data on them. The paper from books & comics just feels more warm than the data-loaded plastic of dvds & cds.

I don't know though... I just can't quite get into digital books or comics nearly as much as I can the physical formats.

And there's my "deep insight into things Joe loves in order to humanize him & maybe throw off suspicion that he's actually a sociopath who hates you all" moment of the day.

Random Thought Of The Day #509

Day 509

Holy shit. I just saw the creepiest fucking thing ever. A robot spider. Actually, it looks like the robot spider that Apple would have made. Way too smooth with too clean of lines & curves & solid white. Like the iSpider or something.

It almost looks like a smooth white rubberized plastic version of the face-hugger things from Aliens.

Fucking creepy, smooth little bastard. Cause what the world was really really REALLY screaming for when it came to robots was Asimo's 8-legged creepy little cousin. Not sex bots. Not robot soldiers. Not Life-Model Decoys. No, what we wanted was a bigger, robot version of something that squicks out 2/3 of the population while making it look like your old MacBook grew fucking legs. That's what we want.

OK... now... I need to change the subject before I start getting paranoid that there's a bunch of these weird little fucking things running around about to pounce on me or something & then impregnate my stomach with little white robot alien spider babies.

I think I just set a new record for use of the word "creepy " in 1 post.

La la la la la la la la

Ok... maybe that helped

Intarwubz box, find me something more interesting to get my mind off of that!

Oh... hey look... it complied with my request.

Looks like another Fetish 101 party going to happen. And I guess all you fucking people got your way & it's non-smoking now. Boo... I'll pass now.

Oh, and there's a cover charge now too? Eh, only $15 and it gives you a drink ticket too. So that makes up for about $5 of it. Not bad. Not great, but not bad. Considering that they're making some serious bank off the drink sales, I'd consider throwing on a cover charge some serious double-dipping, but whatever.

It's just nice to see someone doing something, even if it's something I have no interest in. We'll be throwing the December play party the following weekend anyway (most likely. I think. I need to check schedules) so it's not like I'm gonna be missing much even with this one going on. But regular parties being thrown in public places are good. It's good for growing the scene. It's good for changing the chemistry of the people attending. It's good for business. It's good for a lot of things.

So there's your free advertising to a decent chunk of the community, people running it.

Too bad it's non-smoking. I might have even gone if it wasn't.

And you made progress in the spell check department this time. Even if it still would give Microsoft Word an an aneurysm from trying to get it to resemble proper grammar.

Ok... here's some entirely unrelated Deadpool.

Random Thought Of The Day #508

Day 508

Wow, this is late today. I was too busy... not writing this.

I've been talking for a while about actually getting down & writing a comic. Well, not so much "writing" as producing. I've already written a shitload of the scripts. I've drawn a chunk of it as well, but will probably want to re-draw a lot of it too. And I've been really fucking itching to do at least one story for a little while now & it seems to be getting worse.

But the thing is, I've always held back on it. And I think it's for a few reasons. Maybe because I'm kinda reluctant to collaborate with anyone on it.

What can I say? I dont' play well with others. I'm pretty sure most of you can attest to that.

But I think it's a lot to do with not really wanting to change my vision for any of these projects.  I know I'm going to have to hear someone else's input if I decided to work with someone else on this. And honestly? I don't really want to work with anyone else. Even if it means re-drawing the same fucking panel over & over until I get it right since sometimes my talents aren't what I want them to be & can come across a little "flatter" than I want it to look.

Granted, this also means I'll need to actually take the time to dedicate to sitting at the art table, breaking out the pencils & picking up new comic boards (I might still have some in the box of other art supplies and all the other marginally completed thoughts, full scripts & half-drawn pages. I should look) and producing again. That just seems like a lot of work.

But also... trying to dedicate setting money aside to self-publish is kind of a pain in the ass. Though something like a Kickstarter thing might be helpful for this. That actually might possibly work. Though that would also mean probably trying to finish a little bit more of it & scanning the inked B&W pages to give people an idea of what I'm actually putting together & whether or not it's worth it for them to help out.

*shrug* I don't know. Maybe it's just another one of those things that I'll get to eventually (like doing the furniture building that I REALLY need to start doing soon for the play space so I don't have to keep borrowing furniture from others for the parties) or things that I'd like to do but never quite get to.

Or I'll just go watch some cartoons. And read an old TPB of Joe Kelly's run on Deadpool.

Random Thought Of The Day #507

Day 507

So we've apparently invented another part of Skynet. A radar system that will track up to 32 cars in it's field of range at once while simultaneously monitoring the indivudual speeds of each vehicle & their license plate information. And when it tracks anyone speeding, can automatically pull up their vehicle registration information & issue a citation.

How long until PA decides we need to have the front-facing plates on our cars too so they can make use of this technology?

But this whole thing begs a NUMBER of questions.

He could be driving.
One being... how do you know who to fine? How often are you driving a car that is not registered in your own name? Maybe you're married and swap cars fairly often for convenience or functionality. Maybe you have kids and they're driving one of the cars registered in your name? What about when your friend needs to borrow your truck to do some moving or their car is in the shop? What about when you have a rental car or a loaner from the dealership when yours is in for maintenance? What if you're a 1-car family that has 2 or 3 drivers?

What I'm saying is, how does this system compensate for that? It can't. It's a mindless machine gathering information on a vehicle & cross-referencing it to a database & issuing arbitrary fines.

What about the times when you're stuck behind the old lady that wants to do exactly 43 in a 45 zone & you just want to pass her. You change lanes, speed up to 50 or 55, get past her in a reasonable timeframe & then slow back down to a more reasonable speed. An actual cop will see this, yawn, and go back to his coffee while waiting for someone actually speeding to go by. A mindless computer sees you exceed the speed limit, tracks your information, and mails you a ticket for the 3 seconds you were 5-10 miles over the speed limit while passing someone driving like at one of those wildly irritating speeds.

The machine doesn't have any sort of ability to make a judgement call. It's a glorified adding machine. Actual speed - speed limit = X. If X < speed limit; then Fine = Y. It's a math machine. With no ability to think.

Then there's the issue of how often people with warrents or parole violations or anything are found durning routine traffic stops. People on the lam don't drive cars registered in their own names. Or have license plates that match their registration. You can pretty much throw out all those arrests.

What about the people that are driving straight but speeding while they're drunk that get picked up from a routine speeding stop. Or the people that the cops say "hey, that guy is driving wildly slow... we might wanna check that shit out & find out why".

Or the times when you're rushing to the emergency room with an injured person? It happened to me when I was a kid. Broke my head & got rushed to the hospital by my parents because they thought the ambulance would take too long. This system, after everything else is said & done, they'd have to go into court to fight the ticket that the computer would have given them automatically. Instead of just explaining to the cop that chases you to the hospital  and him having a brain to say "oh, yeah... you're ok. You should probably wait for the ambulance next time, but I understand, hope your kid is ok" and walking away.

But in addition to the thousands of ways that this glorified Atari can waste thousands of hours & exist as nothing more than a fine generation & collection machine, there's another question that I want to ask.

Who else is really in favor of all this Big Brother bullshit? I know I'm getting sick & fucking tired of it. Didn't we learning ANYTHING from 4 Terminator movies (and a tv show), a thousand Sci-Fi books & probably about a million other short stories, b-movies, comic books or whatever else about how badly this is all going to end for everyone? Well, everyone that doesn't have a lot of guns & lives in the middle of bumfuck nowhere, that is. With a bomb shelter for when all the bombs fall.

Using machines to monitor things? OK. I can kinda see that. As long as there is a set of human eyes actually looking at context. But when the machines monitor & make decisions on how to react... then we have problems.

And now that that rant is done... here's some Deadpool:

Even if you have all the guns, they'll just cut off your trigger finger(s)

Random Thought Of The Day #506

Day 506

Everyone survive the weekend? No zombie apocalypse? That's kinda disappointing. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that at some point I can have a chance to fortify the house & let loose a barrage of gunfire from the upper floors at a horde of hungry zombies. @Artemis_Fallen 's windows are perfectly set up for that. And I've got the big ass, solid fucking wood doors on the front & back. But I probably do have too many 1st floor windows to fortify. That might be a problem.

Electric fence with a generator is the solution.

Wait... will electricity kill a zombie? Can you light them up with enough juice to fry the undead?

That's a thought. Why haven't we seen much of the old electric fence thing in zombie flicks? Maybe because most people don't have a generator in their house. Or the generator doesn't put out enough amps to really light one of those hungry bastards up. Yet another reason that I'm totally in support of a nuclear reactor in my basement. That'll definitely take care of those fucks.

But regardless...

I found out that the "maybe I'll stop someone when the words 'here, hold my beer & watch this' come out of their mouth" thing... yeah... totally doesn't apply to me. I think I did it in the first 20 minutes of the party too.

Everyone have a good time? Pretty good turnout. Thanks again to @GreyOne & his House for lending the furniture.

And yet again, I ended up with more alcohol left over than I started the party with. I should do this shit more often!

But with that party down, we're getting ready to start preparing for the next one. Once a month might wear me the fuck out after a while, but well... until there's something better, with a better location & someone more awesome than me throwing them, I feel compelled to fill that void. Not as a some kind of altruistic bullshit. I just like having parties.

And creating opportunities for girls to wear minimal amounts of clothing (or none at all, as tends to happen) for my viewing pleasure.

We're gonna change some things up for the next party. I don't know in what WAY yet, but we'll be putting something together to keep it from getting stale. Lighting being one thing that I'm going to change. Someone flipped on a couple extra lights & it fucked with the vibe a little bit. But I was too busy dealing with everything ELSE to notice & fix it.

But throwing these kinds of things are fun. They're a learning experience. They're fun. They're an excuse to do something social without needing to leave my fucking house. Even with how much I hate people.

Though I do need to comment/question on one thing. I got a couple people tell me they didn't come because of some asshat from out of state that RSVP'd "maybe" apparently. Who the fuck is this dude? Did I miss something? (Actually, I can probably answer that last question as "yes" because I always miss something but everyone assumes I know everything already & thus never tell me. I mean... I am the ScienceJesus & I am always watching from my high fucking horse... but I do occasionally miss a lot of the little community bullshit with keeping myself outside of the "regular" community)

But well... yeah... so get ready fuckers... I've got the a number of months theme parties already planned out. I'll start throwing out dates in the near future. But as a quick teaser preview... here we go...

My birthday. It might not be a national holiday yet, but give it time. Bikini Beach Party. Harlot-ween. Kinky Game Show Night (I'm already imagining subbie-Plinko, motherfuckers!)  Black-Out Party. Imitation Party.

Random Thought Of The Day #505

Day 505

I love halloween. I love the candy, the drinking, the dark aspect of it, the randomthrowingoftoiletpaperatthehousesofneighborsyoudon'tlike, the parties, the wildness of creativity...

But most of all, I love that it's just an excuse for girls to dress like utter & complete whores & have no concern about "does this make me look too skanky?" when they're going out with their friends. In fact, it almost seems like the goal for some of them is to out-slut their friends with their outfits.

And that's a great thing. And it's something we should promote.

So, in that line of thinking, I propose something... a 2nd halloween. In like... late April. I don't know what the fuck we could call it, but that's something for my marketing people to figure out.

Think about it... we're doubling up on most holidays now anyway. Granted, a lot of that has to do with fucking Hallmark, but still. We've doubled up on Jesus-day with Christmas & Easter. We've doubled up on days for military service men & women with Memorial Day & Veterans Day. We've doubled up on the "hey check it out, new continent...let's not die there" holidays with Thanksgiving & Columbus Day. And we've doubled up on the love holidays with Valentines & (this is the stupidest holiday name ever) Sweetest Day.

So we need to double up on the "girls dressing trampy" holidays too.

It makes sense in my head.

Oh... I got it... Whore-er Day! (yes, I know... pun-tastic)

*insert gratuitious slutty girls costumes/outfits pictures here*

Random Thought Of The Day #504

Day 504

And the Superhero party has been announced. That's the November party. You should totally RSVP... because... well... It's gonna be awesome.

We're totally giving the dogs Superhero costumes too.

Bailey is going to be Krypto the Super Dog!

And Reagan is totally going to be Dogpool.

Let's see how she does with wearing a mask. Somehow, I think this is going to end badly.

Yeah, one dog with a cape & another in a mask. This isn't going to lead to ANY problems with dogs trying to tear their costumes apart at ALL!

Speaking of superheroes.. apparently the original check written to the creators of Superman was recently found. For all of $412 to the rights to Superman.

Count that one under the list of worst deals in history.

Seriously. $412 for fucking Superman? Can I buy Batman for like $350 then? I figure he's probably worth about $50-60 less than the Man of Steel, right? He's not as big of a culture icon (though we did see Batman's garage while we were in Philly last weekend. He should probably not put a huge painted Batman symbol right on his garage door. Not a good way to hide the ol' Batcave. But I digress...) than Supes. So Bats should run a couple bucks cheaper.

Hell... I'll even go up to $1750 to adjust for inflation.

Actually... I think I'll take Wolverine for maybe $375 instead. Or inflation adjusted up to about $1900.

I mean... on the list of really fucking shitty ideas... selling the exclusive rights of a character like that has to be about the way the Native Americans feel about selling Manhattan island to a bunch of white people for some blankets & beads. A hundred or so years later, you kinda realized how badly you got hosed in that deal.

But I'd totally pay like a full $2000 for Deadpool. Cause Deadpool is totally fucking cooler than the big blue boyscout or the flying rat.
