RTOTD #601.1

Day 601.1

Ugh. Politics.

So the President is all butthurt about the Supreme Court having the power to overturn his healthcare thing.

He said that it would be "unprecedented" and criticized them for being unelected. He criticized the Supreme Court for not being elected? And for them having the power to overturn laws?

He... uh... he has read the Constitution, right?

I'm just checking. I mean... he should have. It was kinda part of that whole Oath of Office thing. Remember that? Swearing to protect and uphold and all that fun stuff? Remember that whole "3 branches of government" thing?

I'll tell you a secret though... the Supreme Court is one of those branches. Shhhh... don't tell anyone.

Might be helpful to know what's in it when you swear to do that stuff, alright big guy? I mean... I don't think that's asking too much. It's all of about 3rd grade Social Studies.

Cause I hate to break it to him... but that's kinda the JOB of the Supreme Court. Agree with the healthcare thing or not... it's the right and duty of the Supreme Court to figure out how Constitutional any law is that is brought in front of them. And they have overturned a lot of laws. Not so many in the last half century, but it's far from "unprecedented".

I know buddy... it sucks. But now you're able to actually go back and take that 3rd grade Social Studies final and pass it because you DO know how the 3 branches work now. Well... maybe.

I mean... I'll even give you a diagram to help understand how it works:
