Random Thought Of The Day #586

Day 586
Wait... so Tide detergent theft is a thing now? Wait... WHAT?

That's a thing? How did that become a thing? WHY did that become a thing? I'm so confused.

And it's even being used as a form of currency in the black market? HUH?

Can't we go back to a simpler time of black market trading when it was done in identities, livers & kidneys, 18 year old blond Russian girls, and kilos of cocaine?

Now... laundry detergent.

That shows you how fucked the world is now. When we're not black-market trading in vices or illegal goods but in daily-use household items. Even the black market can't afford vices and illegal goods.

We're all screwed.

Wait... so if Tide is the new currency, can I buy stuff from the old black market that used to be currency with the new currency? I wonder how many loads of laundry it costs to buy a blonde chick from like... bumfucknowhere, Russia?  I would totally go as a high as 5 cap-fulls. But they have to pay the freight. Fucking shit is expensive nowadays. And I don't have enough detergent to pay the Customs office either. Or can I still do that? Can I buy old Black Market Bucks with NEW Black Market Bucks?

This shit gets complicated. What's the exchange rate of Tide to Kidneys? What about the exchange rate of humanly trafficked girls to detergent? Cause that would totally work out great. I buy a girl with a couple cap-fulls of Tide and then she can do my laundry with the left-over detergent. Win-Win. Well, maybe not for her. But meh... can't please everyone.

And why is it only Tide? Isn't Bounty good enough for you fuckers? Wait... is Bounty a thing? Or is that the paper towel & toilet paper company? Which one am I thinking of with the fluffy walking stuffed teddy bear that is always laying around in the really soft fluffy towels? Bounce?

Fucking whatever.

Random Thought Of The Day #585

Day 585

Holy damn. I just figured this shit out.

So the only reason Rick Santorum is still around is in order to make Mitt Romney look like a reasonable candidate that you just hate LESS than Santorum. Romney is the guy that the GOP leadership wanted since the beginning (after McCain proved that he couldn't get it done), but everyone pretty much hated him. So they let Santorum stick around as one of the Final Four and be really neck & neck and let all of his crazy come out rather regularly at the same time. So that people pick ROM(TheSpaceKnight)ney instead as the lesser of 2 undesirables.

Ok... so I'm the only one that got the geeky comic book/robot reference in relation to the way Romney comes across.

*HINT* - He kinda seems like a robot. ROM the SpaceKnight was a robot. Kinda. Shut up. It was funny when I thought of it.

You sneaky old fat rich white bastards. I see what you just did. And this is why I hate the Republican party ALMOST as much as I hate the Jackass party on the other side of the aisle. Cause the minute you have the opportunity to win on actual merit, put the image of the past behind you, and come into the 21st century? You gotta go find the biggest robotic, bigoted, sexist, and/or rich old white men to rebuild that stereotype. A woman? Not a chance. Non-white persons? Are you high? Someone that doesn't have their bible surgically attached to their hands? HA!

Way to prove that you're actually worth it as an alternative to the tax & spend, gigantic government, control freak, lunatic fringe radical, idiots on the other side.

You're number 1.

Fuck politics. This is why I really want a "C - None of the above" option...

or "D - Joe's Dog" option. I still think Bailey would make an awesome President. Though he's kind of a pussy. As long as the other President isn't a smaller female dog, he'll be fine. Though... he's easily bribed with pets or food. So I'm not sure how that'll work out. Maybe this "Joe's dog as the President of the free world" isn't the best idea.
Ok... I vote for myself as Jesus instead. Cause then I can... um... do... stuff. Or something.

Or maybe I'll just go read a comic book, drink a beer or 37 and forget that there's an election.

Random Thought Of The Day #584

Day 584

So... just in case you didn't get the fucking memo (that I didn't write, send, or even comtemplate circulating), the BimBeaus party is re-scheduled for the 24th (instead of the 31st) because of some scheduling issues.

So remember to check dates and shit. Every once in a while, things change. This was one of those times.

Wow... 30 words in and I've already ran out of shit to talk about.

Actually... here's something that I DO want to talk about a little bit. It's something that I've seen has been a minor problem recently with some of my close friends... I don't know if it's like "epidemic" status or if it's more of just coincidence or whatever. But it's something that I know I've been kinda guilty of recently, and I know a few of my close friends have been as well.

Failure to communicate effectively.

There seems to be a direct correlation between communication and definition of relationships. Often times, communication OF the defintion of relationships is the problem. But they seem to be interconnected to a great degree.
It seems like us kinky people sometimes don't like defining or labeling ourselves or our relationships. Sometimes, for pretty good reason. You don't wanna fuck up something that is working by throwing labels or anything on it. Ok... cool. I get that...

I've had that in the past. And the minute I wanted clarification on the dynamic and to actually figure out what it was, shit went south pretty damn quick. Possibly because labeling things or naming them or defining them puts requirements on things. I'm not sure it really matters WHY in this particular case, but I've seen it happen over and over with other friends.

That girl or guy you have that you sometimes fuck or play with yet somehow always seem to have a connection to knowing when the other is in the mood for a hook-up of some sort? Yeah... you think a little too much about that and it goes tits up. It happens. You start trying to put any labels on that and you might as well call it a day now, cause shit ain't gonna get less cloudy and you're not gonna care less about clarification the longer there isn't any. And there won't be.

But there's another side to it. And it's the way that lack of definition can sometimes be used subconsciously (or even consciously) to avoid potentially awkward conversations by rationalizing "hey, there's no definition here therefore we don't have any claims over one another and can therefore do whatever we want without really consulting one another." to some extent. Like ... to use a cliched pun (which I am sometimes wont to do)... almost similar to the old "ships passing in the night" thing. You don't owe anyone anything. They don't owe you anything.

But the thing is... it doesn't really work that way. Not defining things doesn't give people carte blanche (hey, I can't believe I actually got to use that stupid fucking phrase in one of these things. Did I really just say that?) to do what they want. Hell, it doesn't even give you freedom to do what you think is OK.

I don't know where I'm really going with this, but I'm just saying that you people should talk more. Don't be afraid of naming dynamics. Be considerate. Don't rationalize the freedom to do whatever the fuck you want because you didn't name something that would imply or explicitly state that you can't do something. A lack of defined restriction is not a freedom to do that thing without repercussions. It just means you have no idea what the fuck the fallout might be. It could be a "meh" and something forgotten in 3 more seconds... or it could be a kick in the balls and a baseball bat to the back of your skull. Just saying.

My communication skills are mediocre at best, but I'm kinda working on it. And if yours are the same way or just plain suck? At least make sure they're good enough to communicate that your communication skills suck.

And finally, an awkward conversation right now or next week might prevent a really ugly one a few weeks down the line.

There's your cliched public service announcement for all of you moderately poly people *COUGH* FUCKING ALL OF YOU *COUGH* or anyone who has anyone that could even reasonably be considered more than a platonic friend.

I'm just saying.

And now, back to your regularly scheduled fuckery.

And Deadpool

RTOTD #583.1

Day 583.1

Holy shit... we can overclock our brains now?

Game. On.

I get inside your fucking heads quite often already. Imagine how that's gonna work once I'm able to overclock my brain and really get shit going.

This is gonna be fun.

No need to inject electricity directly into my veins anymore. Now, I can just turn on the turbocharger in my brain. And then...

The World Ends

Random Thought Of The Day #583

Day 583

I had a random moment yesterday where I thought "I haven't been to the Magical Disappearing Lake in a really long time. I kinda wanna go back".

Now... none of you knew me when a good friend (who one or 2 of you actually have met) and I first discovered the Magical Disappearing Lake. And while there were plenty of times where I happened across some Pterodactyls while on the way to visit it, there were many times when there were none to be found.

Oh wait... you probably don't know the Pterodactyl story either.

But it made me realize all the places that I used to go to all the fucking time and haven't been to in forever.

And I kinda wanna go visit them again.

But the thing is... these places actually have memories attached to them. And I'm not sure if they'll be as cool now. Is it just the nostalgia that makes these places cool? Were they just so weird that they actually were cool? I don't know. I'd like to think they were actually kinda cool and it wasn't just shit that I liked due to other... influences.

Or without a lot of things smoked ahead of time.

But if I were to inventory all the awesome places and things that I haven't been to or seen in forever, they'd go something like this:

Ma's Laundry
The Deli/Pool Hall/General Store/Arcade/Video Rental Center/Illegal Gambling Facility
The Magical Disappearing Lake
The Magical Gateway to Indiana (there was apparently a lot of magic to be found. Or magic mushrooms.)
The 5th way to a 4 way intersection
Brahim-hedge
The Invisible Park
That cow that gave me directions the one time

And I'm sure there's a few others that I'm just not thinking of in my caffeine deprived state.

But I kinda want to start going back to these places and seeing if they still even exist or if I can even find them again.

Anyone wanna join me?

And I totally need to also throw in the haunted cemetary that I took a pet ghost home from and she lived in my linen closet.

Random Thought Of The Day #582

Day 582

Mario got a statue of himself today. I kinda want a statue of myself as well.

But I have no idea where I would put it. It would probably also be as gaudy as possible and entirely unrealistic. Maybe I'll put it outside of a vegetarian restaurant. Or some place that only serves shit made out of soy. Or outside of the PETA office.

Oh wait... I already have one a statue of myself. The statue of Atlas holding the world in Rockefeller Center. That was totally me. I just don't like to take credit for it. Cause I'm humble like that.

Also... it was life size. I just decided to make myself the size of regular humans again so you all didn't feel as intimidated.

You're welcome.

I always hated the way this one came out
But I think it might be time for another statue of me as well.

I don't count all of those bad ones in churches. They totally got the look wrong. I mean... seriously... sandals? Fuck that noise. And they grabbed me for that whole crucifixion thing right after I got out of the shower... I was planning on wearing jeans and boots that day. But NO! those fucking romans couldn't wait 10 minutes for me to throw on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt that said "Soon to be an Internet meme"

But I totally did lose a bet and was wearing a crown of thorns. That shit hurt.

So where should the next statue of me be located? And what should it be of? What kind of accomplishment should be represented in it? What iconic pose.

I'm thinking sitting on my couch with a beer in hand and a cigarette in another. And my dog hanging out with me. That's kind of the iconic Joe. But I might want to wait until I'm Old Man Joe before I do that one.
Told you it was big.

Or maybe with my fat ass throwing a flogger over one shoulder, my gigantic swinging privilege over the other, and a cigarette in my mouth.

What do you think? Do you want a statue of you as well? What would it be?

Random Thought Of The Day #581

Day 581

This is really fucking late today.

I've spent the last half hour in an argument with a friend over a headshot ban in hockey. I'm still against a headshot ban. And I won't change my mind. Because it's a "let's try to fix this symptom of this other problem" approach without actually tackling the other problem. And I'll argue until I'm blue in the face that a headshot ban will cause players to skate with their heads down all the god damn time. This time there's no Darius Kasparaitis to kill Eric Lindros for doing it. I fucking HATE watching guys skate with their head down until they get killed in center ice for doing it. They're asking for it... but I digress...

The problem is the same in Football as it is in Hockey. Fucking ARMOR on these guys.

About 15 years ago, when Carbon Fiber started getting cheap and reasonable to use, it started getting put into pads for athletes in contact sports. Between Carbon Fiber and plastics, the padding became secondary in construction. It was there for the wearer and on top of that, the plastic and carbon fiber was attached. It added that hard layer to the outside. It created a solid layer. But the padding remained... but now, not to dampen the hard muscle & bone on muscle & bone impact of 2 bodies colliding the way that the padding had. Now it was to only protect the wearer and diffuse the shock that went back into the wearer's body when the outside layer of solid material made contact with another solid object.

Gratuitous half naked girls in a pillow fight. You're welcome.
It's like strapping pillows on you and diving on top of someone like when you were 6 and wrestling in your basement with your friends. You didn't hurt each other that much. The pillows were pads. They prevented injury.

But then, how about you glue a bunch of plastic plates on top of those same pillows. And try doing that. Now, only 1 person is protected when you hit an unpadded area.

Think about the difference. Hit someone in the chin or head with a pillow covered fist. And then hit someone with a pillow covered fist with a plastic plate on it. Hmm... I wonder which one will create a more damaging impact?

Don't think about it too hard.
But what I think this brings up a good topic. Reactionary decision making. And how everyone seems to just see a symptom, say "we gotta fix this!" and then instead of finding out what causes it, deciding on how to deal with the result by just saying "this shouldn't be allowed to happen".

I mean, maybe I'm alone here, but logic would dictate that if you don't like the outcome of something, you'd figure out how to prevent that outcome rather than simply dictating that that outcome is unacceptable. It's this retro-prohibition-lite thought process. Where "hey, alcohol makes people drunk and do stupid shit so we should ban alcohol" instead of thinking "so why are so many people drinking to excess and making this a problem?"

This guy? He's doing it wrong.

But hey... logic apparently went out the window a long time ago. It's all about the soundbytes and the quick fixes and all the other inane shit that doesn't work but makes you feel like you did something about a problem while still causing 10 other problems or not even fixing this one.

Hey, the country is broke, so let's print more money so we can pay debt! Or we can just spend our way out of debt... don't think too much about that. It makes sense. Trust me.

Hey, I'm fat... let's go on the all pizza hut diet!

Makes about as much sense.

Shortsighted, quick fixes with a feel good story on how it'll fix all these problems that were caused by these other things but we won't talk about them cause we don't know how to fix them or don't like the options on how to fix them but this thing will fix this problem right here that we're worried about right now.

Exactly. And people don't understand why I hate everyone. Because everyone is either stupid or crazy. Cause only stupid or crazy could come up with this thought process and think it actually works for longer than it takes to get the words out and feel good about how everything is better now.

Or maybe I'm the crazy one for not jumping on the reactionary bandwagon.

Now I really do need a prescription from Doctor Whiskey.

He's a very good doctor.

Random Thought Of The Day #580

Day 580

One of these days, I really need to actually sit down and try to put my thoughts on the body modification and bimbofication/dollification kinks I have into words. Cause I kinda see them as very very intertwined. And deeply personal for some reason. I can't quite explain it.

I've been thinking about that a little bit this morning for some reason (one of my friends brought it up accidentally while asking for an opinion on a body mod), but it inevitably ends up with me thinking a lot about it. And trying to form a coherent thought on the topic. But I often can't. I inevitably get stuck in these loops on the issue and feel like there's something more tangible that links all of this together. But then, I can't quite figure out what that one last string is that ties it all together in my head. And I really want to.

Anyone got an idea here? Cause I'm kinda coming up blank.

Speaking of blank... I'm actually a little surprised at how little of a response I got from my writing on Friday. I don't know why. I just kinda expected more reaction. One way or another. Because it seems like there is this constant drum beat of "unity unity unity" and I'm sitting here feeling like one of about 10 people saying "what fucking unity? where is the unity? And who REALLY wants unity?" while looking at each other with a puzzled expression and a tilted head.

I mean... I'm not missing some kind of major game changer that would change my opinion on "unity", right? I don't think I am. I mean... I know there's some people that are all about it... and that's cool. As long as they don't get the authority to make it happen by coersion, that is. But I figured there was at least enough of the "yay unity!" crowd out there that they would have at least felt compelled to explain why I was wrong about my "fuck unity" argument. Guess not. Or they didn't feel compelled enough.

Plus... the whole Unity thing reminds me way too much of being 17 or 19 again and spending a lot of time around candy kids writing PLUR (Peace Love Unity Respect) on their arms in highlighter. And I just wanted to enjoy my roll in peace and vibe to some DJ at that point.

Jesus... that's the most I've written in back-to-back days about kink-world stuff in a long time. And I kinda remember why I stopped. Mostly cause it's not that funny. And without going right after individual people, it's hard to make jokes about. Even the generally groan-inducing types that I make.

Remind me to NOT do this again for a while. I need something inane, ridiculous and not only lacking any redeeming value, but makes you dumber for having thought about to blabber about instead. It kinda makes me feel like I'm punching MYSELF in the balls by writing on this topic some days.

And I really should have posted the Spider Jerusalem Explains Voting image again when it came to the "politics" portion of my post from Friday.

Oh fuck it... here we go. Spider explains voting. Again.

Random Thought Of The Day #579 - Beautifully Fractured Edition

Day 579

Oh, I think Doctor Whiskey is going to have to write me a nice prescription this evening after how this week has gone.

And on an entirely unrelated note...

@TwistedView wrote 2 posts recently that kind of resonated with me. I think they kind of go hand-in-hand with each other rather than being 2 different topics though. One was regarding community dynamic and structure and the other on the whole @ElitistFucks group.

I've kinda realized over the past 2 years or so that I've grown increasingly cynical about the concept of community. Mostly the Unity portion of that word. But also with what it implies.

Community, to me, implies organization. It implies leadership and rank & file. And all that implies politics. Either in elections or in a form of monarchy or oligarchy or something as simple as a dictatorship. None of those are, by definition, a bad thing... but they're all historically and observably corruptible. It creates an artificial power and, yes... privilege. And I don't mean the name of my penis. It's a ceding of control to an authority.

And we all know how much I like authority.

But what I'm getting at here is that community creates these things. Because someone inevitably ends up becoming the decision maker. And as time goes by, people become more and more accepting of granting that decision making person more authority to decide more and more things. It almost becomes a form of D/s in a strange way. A submission by everyone to a person or persons who begin making the decisions. And they begin to play the role of ship captain at some point. With an implicit and explicit authority in virtually all organizational and directional aspects of the group.

Could they be trusted to do so with the best interests of everyone in mind? yes. Does it tend to work out in a benevolent way forever? No. Inevitably, it ends up going south. At least from my perspective.

But with granting a person or persons that authority, it creates a class system. But not one based on anything tangible like skill or knowledge or anything. But simply by authority and lack thereof. Artificial authority at that.

Classes will exist. They have to. Because not everyone is equal. Some people have more to offer in this particular community or any community. Either in intelligence, logistical ability, skill, knowledge or whatever. Those variables create a legitimate hierarchy. And people can climb that ladder or not. It's tangible. They're incorruptible. You can't make someone any more skilled or smart or knowledgeable than they actually are. But you can give them authority they don't deserve. It's a slight distinction, but it's a distinction. There's an inherent corruptibility to power and authority. And it often takes people far too long to rebel against that corruption.

I'll get back to that though.

But there's another aspect of this I want to look at. Inclusiveness.

I'm not saying that being inclusive is a bad thing. It's not. But complete inclusiveness is impossible. That's just common sense. You can't have 2 people that are diametrically opposed in the same community and expect it to end in anything but tears or blood. Lines have to be drawn. It's a matter of where those lines are drawn that is the issue. And it's been a topic that I've brought up in the past once or twice. But for other reasons.

No, what I'm saying is that I don't think the community has really set those lines in the proper place. The line between "mostly inclusive" and "exclusive" is pretty clear. We know how far the spectrum can spread. We know that the whole spectrum can't fit in any one group. Hell, some of the fringes of each side of those spectrum are hardly even the same species as the other. So we draw the lines. And as long as we're on the upper side of including 50% of that spectrum, it remains inclusive. Below that 50%? Exclusive.

Simple math, right?

What I'm saying with all of this is that not everyone can get along with everyone. It could be because of beliefs or simply because they don't want the authority that the more central organized group submits to. The spectrum provides for that kind of diversity. And sometimes that diversity clashes with other parts on the spectrum.

And that is where the groups that pop up to fill in those voids in the spectrum not serviced by the established central authority come in. They fill those voids. They create a natural diversity. As nice as homogeny is for milk, it's not so great for people and groups. These diverse groups are amazing. They provide something that their members are not getting elsewhere. And they spring up out of nowhere. They're organic. They're disorganized or organized, depending on how the members want them to be. They are as big or small as their structure permits them to be. They can grow until they collapse under their own weight or they can be 5 people sitting in a restaurant wanting nothing to do with anyone else or ever bringing a new person into the group. And all of that is perfectly fine. The fractures and splinters in the spectrum are shown. The needs of each person is met by the groups that they draw themselves into.

And those groups interact with one another on whatever level they are compatible to do so. They simply work or they do not. And when they do not, they do not intereact. Or at least that's how it should go...

But where we get into trouble again has to do with the the interaction between different parts of a spectrum. When one part of a spectrum is compelled to absorb or grow their authority over more and more. To provide structure for those who don't want it. When their position on the spectrum is one that believes they need to bring authority to the anarchy, to bring homogeny to the diverse, to bring centralization to the decentralized or otherwise bring as much of the spectrum under one umbrella as possible, they become the evangelical. Because it's forced. It's inorganic. It's artificial. It's fake.

Which is where the whole @ElitistFucks thing comes from for me. Some of us might see it differently and I definitely don't speak for everyone or even the group itself.

But I'll tell you a secret about it. It's a joke. The whole thing. It's a big joke.

And the joke is on everyone. Ourselves included.

Even the name is a joke... because Elitist implies status. And if there is one thing that actually matters the LEAST to any of us, it is status. We could care less about status, about privilege, about victimization, or maintainting equality or anything else that doesn't simply WORK. We simply all treat each other exactly as is appropriate. No more. No less.

It's an organic group that was no longer being served by the centralized group. That came together for exactly that reason. That's not casting fault on the centralized group. Simply a statement of fact.

It's a group that exists solely for those that don't want the authority. That's why there's almost as many group leaders as there are group members. For those of us that don't want to submit to that authority. We don't even want the paper authority.

It's for those of us who don't want to measure our words for fear of offending someone. Maybe because we simply don't want to fight about pronouns or proper titles or whatever anymore. Not because we're assholes or uncaring to the feelings of others... but because we simply just want to be able to understand each other in simple terms and figure out our dynamics with each other on a one-on-one basis. We don't want our interactions to be mandated by seemingly arbitrary rules where others could be offended when they even overhear how we interact with someone else. We just dont' want to need to try so hard to appease everyone that it becomes work.

It's for our weird, disfunctional, diverse little family.

It's for people that don't take themselves, their kinks, their lifestyles, or anything else too seriously. Because if you can't laugh at yourself and let other people laugh at you, then you really do just have a massive stick up your ass. And that's no way to live as far as we're concerned. It might work for others, and that's cool... but demanding that we live with that stick up our asses is no different than us demanding that you laugh at yourself. It's simply an extension of being accepting without validating someone else's kinks.

And it's for people that don't always get along and don't always share beliefs but can always care about one another. Hell, there's more diversity of opinion and arguments and disagreements within our group at one munch than I've seen or heard about at any group discussion that I've ever been a part of in my many years around this community.

The only real common ground we all share? It's a shared set of ground rules that we all believed in when it comes to dealing with other people long before we came together. We didn't have to set up the rules... the rules were already shared before the group ever came into being.

And finally... the biggest part of the joke? Is that we're underscoring the exact same thing that every other small sub-sect of the community does with splintering into cliques or groups of close friends that spend a lot of their time together. But the one thing we are doing is being honest about it. We're not singing "kumba-fuckin-ya" about how united the community is while spending most of our time with small groups.

That's the only thing that separates us from the greater community. We just named it. No different than any leather family does. Except we're not all leather. We're just a family.

I could go on and on about this, but I think I've put together enough words on the topic right now. I might talk more about it later. I don't kow.

But in the meantime... I'm going to continue to reject the idea of authority and enjoy the beautifully fractured nature of the kink scene in this city.

Random Thought Of The Day #578

Day 578

I was thinking about this the other day..

How the fuck did the Soviet Union hide fucking CITIES?

I mean... it's a city! That's like trying to "hide" Pittsburgh or something. Oh yeah... with guns, lack of communications, and no Google Earth. I forgot about that.

I bet if I managed to time travel back to the late-1800's with my iPhone, I'd start another round of Witch Hunts just from being able to play music from the magic box in my hand. And they'd demand that I release the people that I've trapped inside of it when I flip over to a TV show or movie.

I'd be like fucking Ash in Army of Darkness. This. Is. My. Boom... wait... no... it's not. This is my... APPLE!

not quite the same ring to it.

So here's the game today... pick a modern thing and a time that you'd love to travel back to with it and tell us all how you think it would make the natives of that time period react.

But you can't take... like... the internet or something with you. Cause that's a whole infrastructure network. You can take the device, but you can't take the network it connects to. You can take your phone, but you can't really call anyone on it. You can take your xbox, but you better be able to figure out where you're gonna plug it into.

So pick something fun and take it back. It doesn't have to be technology.. You can take your car back to Ancient Egypt. or an airplane to fly and check out some dinosaurs. Or a tank to the Revolutionary War. Modern Tactical Assault gear to fight in the Roman Colosseum. Something fun like that. Pick something, tell us all how it would fuck with people and why it would be awesomely funny to take it back there.
